Vistaite is old stock Oregon stone mined in the Ochoco Mountains with an unfortunate history. It was a highly popular stone when actively mined, and after getting his fill, the original mine owner left the mine to the county as a public mine for all to access. Sadly, the National Forest service decided this wasn't appropriate and spent considerable funds to cover the public deposit with loads of dirt to make it undiggable. It's a fairly hard stone that often has a blue-green tint and can sometimes have a rolling hills pattern.
WHAT MAKES IT SPECIAL
The Vistaite deposit was buried by the Forest Service, so any rough on the market is old stock. This is a meaty cutter with proven pattern on the cut face.
