🪨 Material Overview, History, and Geology
Tahoma Agate is a rare seam agate from Washington State, long considered a classic among collectors and rockhounds. It is found near Mount Rainier in the Snoqualmie-Baker National Forest, a remote and challenging location to access. Reaching the original site reportedly required shimmying along a cliffside, adding to its rarity and mystique.
The name “Tahoma” comes from the Indigenous name for Mount Rainier, meaning “The Supreme Mountain.” Tahoma Agate often contains both agate and jasper in a single formation, sometimes leading collectors to refer to it as Tahoma Jasper. Its scenic contrasts, quartz growths, and occasional moss-like inclusions make it a stunning and collectible Northwest material.
📏 Additional Notes
Natural Stone: This is a cut, unpolished slab of Tahoma Agate. Minor natural pits or healed fractures are common and part of its authentic formation.
Photos: All photos are taken wet to show the true color and pattern, with the final image taken dry for inspection of the surface and structure.
