Septarian Nodules are round formations where organic fossils were consumed by bacteria and replaced with calcite, creating distinctive crackle patterns. They can be hollow geodes with calcite crystals or solid with distinctive patterns throughout. Most take an excellent polish and work into quality cabochons or display slabs for collections. Some preserve surviving fossils within the nodule, adding paleontological interest. Primary sources are Utah and Morocco, each offering different characteristics and color patterns.
WHAT MAKES IT SPECIAL
