Red Ribbon is one of the most rare and sought after forms of Obsidian. Red Ribbon Obsidian is glass butte obsidian that will have a bright red strand or banding running through it. When cut right, this strand will run across the slab, and can create some truly captivating designer grade cabochons. Red Ribbon obsidian is not Mahogany Obsidian, and we see a lot of confusion between the two online. Once you've worked with both, it becomes easy to spot the difference. The mine for this form of material is having more and more trouble coming across this material; and the already scarce material is becoming even harder to acquire!
