Description

Here is a stunning 8 lbs 3 oz Polished display specimen showing some high grade flash!  This gorgeous chunk has been ground and polished on all sides, and can set upright with good flash that appears to be better at lower than eye level at a slight angle.  This one looks like it could also make a great aquarium chunk when seen from above, as it shows great flash while laying on its back!

Labradorite is a calcium enriched feldspar that has a chatoyant effect that is best viewed in bright light, this chatoyant effect is known as labradorescence.  When you turn it in bright light, you will see areas light up and flash with bright color.  They can flash indoors, though for the best result direct light is needed.  These are beautiful no matter how you display them though, and some experimenting may be required to discover how you can best appreciate them!

In the metaphysical world, Labradorite is known as a shielding stone.  It protects one from negative or hurtful energy, and instills strength to those around it.  It is also known as a stone of deeper connection.

Among the Eskimo Inuit and Innu people, Labradorite was known as a spiritual and mythical stone.  It was believed that a native warrior smacked the stones with a hammer or spear, freeing them and thus creating the aurora borealis; with the remaining light staying within these stones!

I do my best to represent the stones with photos.  I don't enhance photos, though sometimes brightness and contrast on monitors may differ, and while a photo may look just like the rock on my end, it will sometimes appear brighter or duller on your end.  I run my monitor at default brightness and contrast settings.

At lapidarycentral we are doing our best to limit spread during the pandemic.  We are doing extra sanitizing of packing and handling surfaces, being sure to thoroughly wash our hands before packing or handling, and taking precautions to limit exposure.  Still, we suggest spraying packages before opening, and the inside before handling, and letting the package set for at least 5 minutes afterwards.
