Pinolith, also known as Pinolite, is a rare metamorphic stone composed of white magnesite inclusions set in a matrix of black graphite and dolomite. The majority of Pinolith comes from Austria, where it was first discovered in 1873 at the Sunk Hohentauern Deposit in Styria. Named for its resemblance to pine nuts, it has since become well regarded for its prime lapidary qualities and striking appearance.
WHAT MAKES IT SPECIAL
The chatoyant white magnesite areas give this slab an optical shimmer that elevates it beyond typical Pinolith. This is old stock material from a rare Austrian source, making it increasingly difficult to find on the market.
