Mexican Velvet Obsidian is one of my personal favorites in the Obsidian World!  Velvet Obsidian has a nice velvety display of flashes of color, often green, gold, and purple.  It makes some amazing cabs, and can be loads of fun to cut and work with!  This material use to be shipped in by the dump truck, however, that was around the 1960s and modernly the mine is same as tapped out, and very little of it makes its way around.  The majority that does is old stock material!  Velvet Obsidian is one of those that you want to grab when you see it, as its not one you see very often, and it sure is gorgeous!  

 

Measurements (inches - longest - approx): 4.2 x 3.3 x .17

 

The last photo has been taken dry so that you may see any defects. The other photos have been taken wet to simulate a polish.
