Old stock cutting rough chunk of what appears to be a dark smoky mahogany obsidian variant from Glass Butte, Oregon. Sourced from an old stock collection of Glass Butte material. Personally I have never seen this exact type before - it shows very dark mahogany mixed with black obsidian. Looking closely, the material is quite gorgeous and could open up significant creative possibilities for cabbing or carving.

Tri-Flow Obsidian from Glass Butte, Oregon, is a mahogany obsidian variety featuring multiple flow patterns and grain currents that create mesmerizing designs. The obsidian between flow lines is often pure and nearly transparent when backlit or cut thin. Color comes from magnetite in the lava flow, giving it the characteristic mahogany appearance. This material is increasingly difficult to find, with most market slabs being old stock.
WHAT MAKES IT SPECIAL
An unusual dark mahogany variant not seen in typical Glass Butte stock. The black-and-mahogany mix creates dramatic visual depth that should produce striking cabs. Significant cutter at over 1.5 kilograms.
