Indian Blanket Jasper is a rare, multicolored jasper found in a small deposit near Enterprise, Washington County, Utah. The material was named for its resemblance to the colors used in Native American blanket fabrics, with classic specimens showing vivid reds, yellows, purples, and tans on a white or creamy matrix. Geologically it is a volcanic ash with geothermal fluid intrusion. This material is widely considered to be tapped out from the original gravel pit deposit, though small amounts are still rockhounded in the Enterprise area. The lapidary-grade material cuts and tumbles well and takes a quality polish.
WHAT MAKES IT SPECIAL
The warm coffee/butterscotch base with purple and pink accents is exactly the multicolor look that gave this material its name. Multiple lapidary uses - cab cutter, dome display, or palm stone.
PERFECT FOR
• Cabochon cutting
• Palm stone / dome display
• Utah jasper collectors
