Calico Splatted Oak is an extremely rare opalized petrified oak from near Ellensburg, Washington. This is all old stock material, with pieces rarely appearing on the market. The material was well known for its stunning wood grain pattern that was normally perfectly preserved by stable opal suitable for lapidary purposes. The opal replacement process created exceptional preservation of the original oak structure while maintaining stability for cabbing and polishing.
