In the winter of 2021, a new deposit of coprolite was discovered at the Kaleidoscope Jasper Mines. This type of coprolite is believed to be rhino scat, though it is nearly impossible to know for certain at this time. It was a smaller fossil deposit that came to the surface, and a few specimens were collected before the deposit was worked out. So far this coprolite has been well silicated and pretty similar to Utah Coprolite in working characteristics. It is typically a caramel color, cuts nicely, and takes a decent polish. As with all coprolite, there is a chance these could be some form of enhydros instead, though given they were found in a small fossil-bearing formation, coprolite is far more likely. Either way, they are pretty neat specimens.
WHAT MAKES IT SPECIAL
From a brand new 2021 discovery that produced limited specimens before being worked out. The caramel color with Utah Coprolite-like working characteristics gives this material strong cabbing potential. Honest identification disclosure preserved.
