Psilomelane Marcasite is a striking manganese oxide material found within agate or quartz, prized for its metallic black plume patterns. The silvery, wood-grain banding seen in the finest pieces comes from layers of pyrolusite running through the stone. It takes a quality polish that highlights the contrast between the jet-black base and the bright metallic banding, working into dramatic designer-grade cabochons and eye-catching display slabs. Gem-grade material has always been a rare find on the lapidary market.
WHAT MAKES IT SPECIAL
The metallic plume and high-contrast banding make this a dramatic cab or display piece. A rare manganese oxide material.
