Description

This stone has been hand polished by lapidarycentral in the United States.  It is polished on the main face.  Please check the photos and video for a demonstration of the polishing.  Stones can differ piece by piece, and some stones will only take a mirror polish, while others will take a matte polish.

With this polished display specimen, the possibilities are endless!  This could be a great piece for the kitchen, living room, dining room, bathroom, bedroom, office, or household entrance.  Its a great conversation piece, and would add a nice homey touch to any bookcase, display case, entertainment center, counter-top, and more!  It could also be a nice collectors piece for an aspiring rockhounding child (pebble pup)!  You can't be the natural beauty of this!  Stones have also been scientifically proven to have a calming and peaceful effect on those viewing them!

About the Stone:

Apple Valley Jasper is collected from the same location and the popular Apple Valley Agate (Sahara Desert of Morocco), but it is actually a fossil stromatolite!  Stromatolites are a form of ocean colonizing bacterial called cyanobacteria that get trapped in sediment layers!  Stromatolites are one of the earliest known fossils, and in some locations around the world, they are still being formed!  With Apple Valley Jasper, each layer is a unique story, as the geological events and mineral contents of the surrounding water and sediment; gives it the color and pattern it displays!  Apple Valley Jasper often features bright reds, with gorgeous lines displayed.  They can also have hematite flowers, which really create some captivating cabochons!  Apple Valley Jasper can take a great polish, ranging from Matte to Mirror depending on the individual chunk.

I do my best to represent the stones with photos.  I don't enhance photos, though sometimes brightness and contrast on monitors may differ, and while a photo may look just like the rock on my end, it will sometimes appear brighter or duller on your end.  I run my monitor at default brightness and contrast settings.  We take our photos either under bright synthetic light or under sunlight.  Photos of polished specimens are taken dry.

To clean polished display specimens, we recommend a cheap toothbrush and water.  Scrub gently and allow to air dry or wipe clean with a microfiber cloth.
This has been hand polished by Lapidary Central.  We loved working with this stone, and are glad its finding a nice home with you!  We are still learning the polishing process, so some newbie mistakes may be made.  Thank you for purchasing from us though, and allowing us to further work on our polishing skills!  Since we are new, we love feedback regarding them, and if you are an experienced polisher, we would love some pointers and tips!  Also, some cerium oxide (white residue) may be on the stone.  This is harmless, and can generally be removed with water and a toothbrush.  We do however do our best to clean them, but the polishing agent can be difficult to see and remove.  Hopefully in the future we will be able to expand our shop with a sonic cleaner!
