Description
This one looks similar to India Blood Stone, however the old timer this came from is confident he dug this in the ochoco mountains at the Skagg Deposits. The more I inspect this, the more I believe his memory is correct. I talked with some other rockhounds, and they said it looks like Parrot Wing.
Skaggs Jasper is a scarce form of Jasper found in the Ochoco Mountains of Oregon. Skaggs Jasper has been tapped out for decades, with none really being seen other than in old estate collections. It is a dominant green jasper and often features organic-like structures. It can work into some gorgeous designer-grade cabochons and has become increasingly popular. You don't want to miss out when you see a chunk of Skaggs Jasper.
Photos are generally taken wet to simulate a polish.
