Jumpin' Jeep Agate is attractive old stock agate dug near the Painted Hills by Mitchell, Oregon. It has gone by many names throughout history: to locals, it's known as Mitchellite; to original miners, it's called Jumpin' Jeep; and it's also known as Oil Paint Agate and Butterscotch Agate. The material got its name after the mine's parking brake gave way while loading boulders, and the miners watched their jeep bounce down the steep mountain.
