Description
Galaxy Orbicular Rhyolite is a form of volcanic rhyolite from near Michoacan de Ocampo, Mexico. It can have a great amount of color variation from chunk to chunk, but they all have those iconic orbs that people love so much! Galaxy Rhyolite is a new one to us, and we are still learning to work with it, but from our own personal cutting, it appears that it will need to be treated in order to cab, due to hardness differences and potential naturally occuring fractures. It is still a super beautiful stone, especially in the rough, and we think it would make great collector stones for sure! For someone that does not mind treating stones, it could definitely make some really unique and attractive cabochons! Galaxy Rhyolite also goes by the name of Galactica.
