Old stock Carey Plume Agate rough showing the classic red coloration this material is known for. While I am not seeing visible plume on the surface, there does appear to be plume potential based on the agate structure. The piece also features a neat oyster shell-like pattern that adds unusual textural character.

Carey Plume Agate was discovered by Shirley Quant decades ago and became an Oregon classic due to its bright red plume and well-defined moss agate characteristics. The material hasn't been mined in over 20 years, making it a rare Oregon plume variety sought by collectors. It takes a quality polish and was a favorite for cabbing among vintage rockhounds.
WHAT MAKES IT SPECIAL
The oyster shell-like pattern is uncommon for Carey Plume and gives this rough distinctive textural character beyond the typical look. Honest plume disclosure - no visible plume on surface, but potential is there.

• Cabochon cutting
• Oregon plume collectors
• Texture-focused slab work
