Botswana Agate is a rare agate from the country of Botswana, representing African lapidary excellence. It's becoming very difficult to find, as no new material is reportedly being mined. Botswana Agate is popular for beautiful banding and impressive colors. It takes a mirror polish and works easily for jewelry making. 90% of LapidaryCentral's Botswana Agates were collected and imported before the 1970s. These agates were mined in a riverbed, causing the smooth appearance.
WHAT MAKES IT SPECIAL
Well-defined shadow lines are a less common Botswana feature - most material runs to softer banding. A vintage pre-1970s import with classic deep blue at a solid cutter size.
PERFECT FOR
• Multi-slab cutting
