Bamboo Jasper is a unique conglomerate jasper from Indonesia that is named by its striking resemblance to bamboo fossils. While it is not believed to contain any fossil material, it does work into stunning cabochons with really unique pattern types that can be very rare within Jasper. Bamboo Jasper also sometimes goes by the name of Bamboo Leaf Jasper. It is typically very solid, which makes it popular among sphere makers. It does tend to take a matte polish without treatment, but with this beauty, it is well worth the process. Most Bamboo Jasper is exported precut due to international trade laws within Indonesia. This is a plus, as it means you get to see a good idea of what pattern is within the stone prior to working with it.
