Apple Valley Jasper comes from the Sahara Desert and is actually a fossil stromatolite, making it a fascinating specimen for fossil collectors. Stromatolites formed from cyanobacteria colonies trapped in sediment layers and are among Earth's earliest known fossils, dating back billions of years. Each layer represents a geological event, with mineral content determining the colors and patterns visible today. This material has limited future availability, as imports to the United States are expected to cease.
WHAT MAKES IT SPECIAL
The wavy multi-colored flows of gold, yellow, red, and white combined with natural sparkle throughout create a slab with both visual depth and shimmer. The limited future availability of this Sahara material makes current stock especially valuable.
