Agua Nueva Agate is impressive material from Mexico near the Laguna Agate mining area. While it can sometimes have fortification, it's more commonly high-contrast, well-defined moss agate. The material tends to be fairly hard and solid, taking a mirror polish for exceptional jewelry. Agua Nueva translates to New Water agate and comes from the Agua Nueva Ranch. The material can occasionally have fractures but generally yields workable slabs for cabochons. Agua Nueva Agate is becoming increasingly difficult to source, particularly high-quality material with vivid moss formations. Collectors value this for its superior definition compared to many other moss agates.
