Description
Here is a used vintage MT-4 Vibratory Tumbler, which to my knowledge, is the original version of what is now the Diamond Pacific MT-4SV. To my knowledge, no real changes have been made upon this ultrasonic rock polisher, and post modern OEM parts for the MT-4SV should function in this.
This is a used MT-4 Vibratory Rock Tumbler, with some signs of wear and tear, and old grit buildup, but it still appears to be functioning 100%. While we did not test a batch of rocks in it, we made sure the ultrasonic motor was still working, and that it appeared to be functioning 100%.
The plug does show some wear, no live wires could be seen, but for safety this may need replaced or repaired.
One of the drums does show advanced wear, and we recommend only using this drum with 220 grit. The other barrel appears to be 100% new, we recommend using this barrel with 500 grit and beyond.
In the tumbling world, vibratory tumblers are known to be much more efficient in both time and resources. While they do not do the rounding stage (you still need a rotary tumbler for that), they use a fraction of the grit on all other stages, and can do in 24 hours what takes a rotary tumbler a week to do on all stages but the 80 grit.
A good formula we used with these is 80 grit for a week in a rotary tumbler to round, then within these we did 220 SiC grit for 2 days, 500 AO for 4 days, and 7000 Cerium Oxide for 3 days.
