Description
Cold Mountain Thundereggs are a really neat form of rhyolite and agate filled thundereggs from Mexico. These often look ugly and unappealing from the outside, but are jaw dropping gorgeous once cut! Unless it is showing a good window, I don't personally recommend buying these in the rough unless you have a saw. But, once these have been cut, its very easy to see why they are so popular among lapidarists!
They are often dominate rhyolite, with colors that look similar to butterfly jasper. A creamy sunset coloration that just flows well together are often what these are composed of. But, they can also sometimes have moss agate or waterline agate within. They take a nice even mirror polish and tend to be pretty stable. They are actually one of our favorites to put to the highspeed sander for a nice polish!
